With Spider-Man's One More Day winding down (somewhat, as Lisa from Neptune Comics points out), J. Michael Straczynski is ending his long run on the Amazing Spider-Man title. We'll give you some preview artwork, new releases dates for two of the delayed issues in this crossover event, and tell you what J. Michael Straczynski has in store for the future:
In the latest issue of Comics Buyer's Guide, Straczynski says he is juggling several comics projects, including the new Thor incarnation and trying to get The Book of Lost Souls back on the burner again. His feature film project, Changeling, an historical suspense movie, is about to go into production, with Clint Eastwood directing and Angelina Jolie starring. Straczynski also just finished adapting World War Z for Paramount and is on a new final draft for a Silver Surfer movie. He also mentions that he is now at work on the adaptation of They Marched Into Sunlight for Tom Hanks' company, as well as a TV project which he cannot speak about just yet.
Wow! Now that's a working writer!
The One More Day arc gives way to Brand New Day, with the cancellation of two of the Spider-Man titles - Friendly Neighborhood and Sensational - and Amazing Spider-Man picking up the pace to an unheard-of three times per month (expect delays - I would)! This frequency will begin with issue #546 and end with 547, during which readers will be introduced to the new creative team, villains, supporting cast, and all the other elements that will be in-play throughout the next year of Spidey's life.
Finally, we got this official Marvel press release earlier this afternoon, with changes to two release dates:
