Hazel Court, one of the original scream queens of the horror classics, died at 82 in her California home near Lake Tahoe.
Court, a British actress, appeared in many cult-classic horror films, alongside such giants as Vincent Price, Boris Karloff, and Peter Lorre. She was a staple in several Corman films from the 1960s. Court also appeared on TV and in British films, but was probably best-known for her role in Corman's The Raven.
According to her daughter, the B-movie actress still received as many as 100 fan mails a week and she answered them all. She wrote an autobiography set to be published in Britain next year. Aside from her illustrious acting career, Hazel Court was also a commissioned artist and sculptor whose works appeared in public galleries.
As always, our deepest condolences go out to her friends, fans, and family.
