Doctor Who Producer Leaving Show

Russel T. Davies, who revived the immensely popular sci-fi icon, Doctor Who in 2005, is stepping-down as the series lead writer and executive producer.

The creative force behind such BBC classics as Queer as Folk and Torchwood, Davies is passing the torch to Bafta-winning scribe, Steven Moffat. Moffat's own impressive record includes Coupling and Jekyll. Moffat said he applied once before but was turned down because the BBC had someone else in mind... "Also, I was seven."

With his credits, Moffat is certain to bring new life into the series, still going strong as it makes its way into the fifth season. Coupling is still a remarkably brilliant and laugh-out-loud funny show, so the humor is sure to not only remain intact, but probably be kicked-up a notch.

Doctor Who was revived in 2005 after a 16-year absence. The original series ran from 1963 - 1989.
