Pink Floyd keyboardist, Richard Wright, has died from cancer at age 65.
Writing on his website, David Gilmour said Wright's contributions were rarely well-recognized outside the band, but were integral to Pink Floyd's sound and success. "After all, without Us and Them, and The Great Gig in the Sky - both of which he wrote - what would The Dark Side Of The Moon have been?"
Wright also composed scores for films and recorded his own instrumentals and solo works.
The entire band reunited in 2005 for the Live 8 event, along with Roger Waters. In 2007, Waters performed a solo set, followed by the rest of the band's separate performance in a tribute to founder, Syd Barrett.
Our condolences go out to all his friends and family.
