Eddie Murphy has signed-on to play the Riddler in what appears to be a third Batman installment from director, Chris Nolan. This third film, following Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2010. Nolan had previously insisted he would not do a third movie. The working title is Gotham.
Earlier, Johnny Depp was connected to the Riddler role. Christian Bale and Sir Michael Caine will both return. Shia LaBeouf is set to star as Robin.

No he's not, says Murphy representatives.
The Rundown usually waits to post stuff like this until we have confirmation. This was two days after this was first announced and pretty much everyone was carrying the story, so I (stupidly) assumed someone along the way had bothered to check their facts... I do not have Eddie Murphy's reps' numbers.
At any rate, the whole matter is up for debate at this point.
