Case Over Ledger Video Settled

While a judge has previously dismissed 11 of the 12 claims one "Jane Doe" brought, the 11th has been settled. But we will not be learning the terms of that settlement, nor will we learn her real identity; "the matter has been resolved" is all her attorney will say.

The judge told the complainant that she must revise her suit to go forward at the time he dismissed the brunt of her claims. The suit had been brought against Splash News and Jane Doe's claims included fraud, invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress or negligence, and trespassing. The judge only allowed a complaint for the latter and she only had 15 days to amend her suit. Basically, her suit claimed she and Ledger were duped into being on camera, and the judge noted only Ledger's appearance made the tape newsworthy, so only he would have had the right to most of the claims. Jane Doe sought to have the video destroyed.

Entertainment Tonight had purchased the video from the agency, but agreed not to air it after outcries from fans and family followed promos featuring the footage.
