News on Jonah Hex

Since we last had any news to bring you on the Jonah Hex movie, Josh Brolin has been confirmed for the lead. But last we jawed on the film, it had lost its directors. Though Terminator: Salvation director (and Supernatural producer), McG, had been rumored to be in the running - among others, like Andy Fickman and Lexi Alexander - none of them made the final cut.

Horton Hears a Who director, Jimmy Hayward has been announced as the director for the forthcoming Jonah Hex flick, which is in pre-production, according to IMdB. While many seemed disappointed at the news, it turns out star, Brolin himself, was the deciding factor: "He got an e-mail to me somehow, some way. He wasn’t somebody we were even beginning to look at and I read the e-mail and was completely blown away by it. I had to meet the guy."

Hayward has experience with Pixar, but only Horton Hears a Who to his directorial credit. Jonah Hex is a dark and gritty western comic book. The pairing will definitely be interesting, no matter what.
