Watchmen screenwriter, David Hayter, is preparing an adaptation of classic zombie comic series, Deadworld. Deadworld takes place in a post-Apocalyptic world in which the dead have come back to "life," intent on killing the living. Hayter said the idea was to create "cool, frightening but not necessarily gory" zombies. "I am a huge fan of zombie mythology," he said.
Hayter is teaming-up with Dark Hero co-founder, Benedict Carver, and Pandemonium's Bill Mechanic to bring Deadworld to the screen. Hayter and Carver opened Dark Hero Studios in March of 2009 to produce multimedia projects in the sci-fi and horror genres. Works from the studio will span mediums, including film, comics, Web content, and video games.
Hayter's credits also include X-Men, X2, and The Scorpion King.
