Slipknot Bassist Found Dead

38-year old Paul Gray, bassist for the shock rock group, Slipknot, was found dead in his hotel room in Urbandale, Iowa, this morning, by a hotel employee. While the precise cause of death has yet to be announced and police are investigating, foul play has been ruled-out. Gray was known as "The Pig," for the nature of the latex mask he wore during performances. Slipknot's gimmick is wearing strange masks while performing onstage. He was also known as #2.

Paul Gray was a Grammy-winning musician and one of the original three, founding members of Slipknot. He also played in bands such as Anal Blast and Vexx. He occasionally provided backup vocals for the band.

Gray's wife, Brenna, a model for GodsGirls, is said to be pregnant with the couple's first child.

Our condolences to his friends and family.

An autopsy found the cause of death to be accidental overdose of morphine and fentanyl. The autopsy also discovered that Grady suffered from "significant heart disease," but that apparently played no part in his death. The Rundown does not know if Grady, or anyone else, knew about his condition.

Grady was found surrounded by pills and hypodermic needles, but authorities said, "We feel very comfortable that this was more than likely an accident."

In 2008, the same year Slipknot's latest album, All Hope is Gone debuted at #1 on Billboard, Grady discussed near-death experiences with heroin in an interview with metal magazine, Revolver.

Grady's wife confirmed her pregnancy with the couple's child in a press conference held shortly after Grady's body was discovered.
