You might know Baskin-Robbins as 31 Flavors; the names are interchangeable because the company was founded as Baskin-Robbins 31 Ice Cream. However, Baskin-Robbins has far more than 31 flavors -- thousands, in fact -- and has decided to drop five from its roster to make room for even more. While this is nothing new, the international ice cream giant's decision to drop their classic French Vanilla has drawn the ire of many customers.
French Vanilla is one of the original 31 flavors and has been with the company since 1945. Also getting the axe: Caramel Praline Cheesecake (1970), Campfire S'mores (1975), Apple Pie a La Mode (1976), and Superfudge Truffle (2007). The flavors replacing these have yet to be announced, but will premiere this fall.
2010 marks the 65th anniversary of Baskin-Robbins. July is National Ice Cream month.
