Comic-Con panels were halted yesterday while one man was arrested and another hospitalized after a dispute over seating lead to a stabbing. Police say one male Comic-Con attendee stabbed the other in the eye socket with a pen. The victim was immediately taken to the hospital. Police say con-goers had detained the alleged stabber, who was arrested. Police were already inside the convention area.
The incident occurred before Universal Studios' panels on Paul and Cowboys and Aliens. Many con-goers had stood in line all night to attend the panels. Attendees stood on their chairs to watch the events unfold as organizers pleaded with them to take their seats and allow medics and police to come through. They tried showing a reel of previews, but the crowd booed. Comic-Con officials expected panels to be delayed by about an hour, but they were able to get back on schedule fairly quickly.
