January 2011 will see a four-issue miniseries called Daredevil: Reborn. Andy Diggle and Davide Gianfelice will be the overseers of the new incarnation of the very model of a perfect superhero who needed no change. The identity of Daredevil in this series remains unknown, though the title suggests Matt Murdock -- you know Daredevil -- will return to form. The title is reminiscent of Frank Miller's coup de grace run, Born Again, which the creators rightfully consider the best Daredevil story yet told.
As many fans (including this one) have noted, Daredevil has been "brought low" and driven mad many times since then -- so much so that the idea has lost its elan. So, though I'll be reading and I like Diggle's writing, I'm playing this one close to the vest. I haven't even started Shadowland yet, but it, like Siege before it, continues to grow and rape me monthly, so I'm saying now that I'm just not that into it. I'm hoping my mind will be changed, but expecting to be disappointed.
