Viacom, Paramount, Paramount Vantage, United Artists, and Lionsgate will come together to form a new cable channel and on-demand service in 2009.
While the new network has yet to be named, a press release yesterday outlined some of what viewers can expect. The new channel will feature movies and TV shows from the archives of the aforementioned, as well as newer releases available on-demand (including Iron Man, Star Trek, and more).
Viacom's role will be network support and promotion, primarily through its MTV Network.
