Evan Rachel Wood has been confirmed as the lead actress in Spider-Man: The Musical. She reunites with her Across the Universe director, Julie Taymor, in the role of Peter Parker's long-time love interest (later wife, later not-wife), Mary Jane Watson. Taymor has been pushing for Jim Sturgess, the male lead from Across the Universe, as Peter Parker, but Sturgess has yet to sign-on. However, the two workshopped the play with Taymor, so she is hopeful.
Spider-Man: The Musical is expected to open in 2010.
