Religion in Paris

Perhaps the frail, waif-like Ms. Hilton is not quite as shallow as we all thought?

Days after being photographed carrying a Holy Bible and a self-help book, Paris Hilton has recently been spotted in a store dedicated to Buddhism. Much like her social life, Paris seems to be skipping from savior to savior, hoping to play one of them out. I imagine her thinking went something like this:

"Ew! The longhair plays with lepers!? Oh my God. No, thank you. Hey? Who's the chubby kid with the small hands sitting under that tree? Hey, pudgy? You're hot."

Paris isn't going to find religion for the same reason she isn't going to find True Love or a real friend: she's a duplicitous, stuck-up, spoiled, little brat who not only doesn't take responsibility for herself or her own actions, but openly and brazenly manipulates people to get what she wants. Sure, she'll pretend she's all about religion until she gets out of jail, then she'll be right back to partying and drunk-driving.

Yes, Paris Hilton needs to be jailed, even if she doesn't really learn anything from it. I heard Girls Gone Wild founder, Joe Francis, didn't do so well behind bars and is looking at the very real possibility of going right back in on unrelated charges. I don't believe he learned much from his little visit, either.

Let's face it: if it were any one of us, we'd have been put under the jail because the American legal system likes to make examples of relatively "good" people in order to "send a message" to other people. What that message is is beyond me - I think it has something to do with, "We make the rules around here, don't go outside this line" - but the underlying truth is that it's all about money. And people who already have money are simply considered more important than those of us who do not.
