When I was plying my trade as a musician, we did not have keyboards or mixing equipment in our band because we were playing extreme heavy metal. That is not to say that these instruments have no place in extreme metal - in fact, many big name bands have made great use of them while still remaining quite heavy. I will admit though that I am not qualified to sit in judgment on such things as the mpc renaissance - I simply do not know enough about them. It looks nice though, and at $700 off the MSRP, you really can't go wrong. Check it out for yourself.
