Live Earth Kinda DOA

I have been watching both Bravo’s and Sundance Channel’s coverage of the Live Earth event - something like 9 concerts across 6 continents - since it came on earlier. Since Hex are both repeats this week, I will likely continue watching it until it’s over at 1-1:30, but I have to admit... I’m still really waiting for some, like, music!

Sundance showed the Beastie Boys’ performance and they rocked that place damn near to the ground! What a great show. But aside from them, both channels are focusing on these no-name acts I have never even heard of - like FYI or FIA or something, and Fall Out Boy whose lead singer looks exactly like a slightly thinner Chris Farley - and who truly aren't that good or impressive. If you close your eyes, you can't tell one from the other - much like when you hear this crap on the radio. What the hell is a Xuxa, for example? We get one song from Metallica (and a shitty one at that), two from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Duran Duran, then the whole performance from those shakey chicks whose lead singer is the sister of Jonathan from Blown Away... sure, they're fine as hell, but is this a concert or a shake joint?

Pretty pathetic, really.

Hell, Sundance has shown more commercials and “short films” than performances and Bravo has shown every terrible act in New Jersey - the whole set. Do these people even know what good music is?

But, so far, the true highlight was Spinal Tap! And the stage filled with all the bass players rocked so hard, it was just fantastic! That was truly historic and I count myself lucky to have seen that. But honestly, aside from that, most of these acts are club fare, at best, and no one will know who they are in 2-3 years if they even know who they are now.
