Paris is Headed to Jail

It was really just a matter of time, if you think about it. Still, Paris Hilton has been sentenced to 45 days in jail for driving on a suspended license. The presiding judge ordered her to start her sentence on June 5th with no hope for early release.

Hilton had been stopped in January and was informed that her license had been suspended. She then apparently signed a document acknowledging that she knew her license was suspended. Paris was later pulled over for driving without headlights in February. She told the judge she did not realize her license had been suspended and promised to "pay complete attention to everything" from now on. Like, totally.

The poor waif cried as she left the courtroom, but there's a very interesting aside to all of this, as Paris was not the center of attention on this fine day: her mother was.

The elder Mrs. Hilton reportedly laughed when the prosecutor asked for a custodial sentence, then asked the judge for his autograph. She then yelled, "You're pathetic!" at the prosecutor when the sentence was handed down. No contempt charges were levied because no one can argue that any lawyer is not, in fact, pathetic.

I'm fearful of Paris' safety in public jail, though I agree that she probably deserves to be there. If she does not report to jail on the 5th, she will be sentenced to 90 days behind bars. I hope and pray that she will be alright, but the only good thing that could happen if she isn't is that they'll sue LA right into the ground. After all, in a city known for its off-the-book decriminalization of prostitution, gang activity, widespread police and judicial corruption, and just generally known as the biggest shithole in America outside of Memphis, TN., Paris' lawyer may have a very persuasive point when he stated that Hilton was being singled-out for being who she is.

Unfortunately, given her past as an adult film "starlet," she is actually no different from any of the other girls in and around LA.
