Sorry for Absence

Even if I'd really wanted to, I was apparently not supposed to blog this weekend.

Firstly, the new modem I got for my XP box keeps shutting it down. It works just fine for a while, then you'll hit a link or someone sends you an IM and the whole thing just reboots! Time and time and time again it's done this. I've already spoken to the company once but since it was the end of the week, I decided to try some modem init strings to see if it had any effect and it apparently did not. I'll have to call them again tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I cannot get the network to even SEE the XP computer half the time and I can't figure out why that is happening, either. I thought it was the firewalls, but even when I drop them on both systems, it only sometimes appears. I don't seem to have a problem seeing this (98) computer from there, but that doesn't help me much since I can't get online with that one.

As you know, someone hacked The Wording and I'm trying to recover the lost posts and repost them in (more or less) the order in which they first appeared. Meanwhile, I've lost at least a few dollars because of it and most of last week. This particular computer is just too slow and I don't know why.

So I basically took the weekend off and cleaned just enough so that I could have some company come over and help destroy it again. Still, things are back together now and even though I have some things to do this week, we'll be back to our regularly-scheduled posting in no time.
