Rapper, IT, was arrested on charges of weapons offenses just hours before he was due at the BET Hip-Hop Awards, where he topped the nominations. He won two awards at the show in Atlanta, though he was not present to receive them.
According to police, TI had a bodyguard purchase machine guns and silencers, which the rapper was not supposed to have, due to a previous felony conviction. Court documents suggested three automatic rifles were found in his car and a search of the rapper's home uncovered six firearms, five of which were loaded. The charges of possessing firearms as a convicted felon followed a month-long investigation.
