Djent seems all the rage these days, specifically amongst bassists. But not everyone is enraptured by six-string instruments; some musicians just want the old school setup. Besides, you should know how to adapt and be able to play basses of all types, which includes your standard 5 string guitar. I understand the old standards are a bit cheaper than their djentrified counterparts, as well.
