Seems like damn near every movie that's come out this summer has broken records - one record or another - only to have their new record overturned the following week! This simply has to be the biggest summer for movies yet. If there has been a bigger one, I'd love for someone to tell me when and why.
According to sources, Transformers took in a record-breaking $27 million its opening day, Tuesday, July 3rd, beating former record-holder, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. Transformers opened across 4011 screens nationwide. In preview screenings the night before, it raked-in a tidy $8.8 million. Dead Man’s Chest’s previous record stood at $15.7 million.
Obviously, I had been meaning to post this much earlier, but didn't. Still, I have been hearing that the new Harry Potter flick has "broken records" already too, so... even if it was still news, it may not be news anymore already anyway.
