A copy of the extremely rare Action Comics #1, featuring the first appearance of some caped guy named... something Kent (or something) sold for a cool $1 million online. The transaction occurred between two anonymous parties over Comic Connect, a comic book auction website which launched in 2006. The seller was described as a "well-known individual" from New York with a "pedigree collection"
The BBC reported the sale as record-setting, noting it beat last year's "record" sale of $317,000 -- also for a copy of Action Comics #1, but in poorer condition -- however Metallica's Kirk Hammett bought a comic book for $1 million back in the late 80s - early 90s which had something to do with a bat and/or a detective? Something... anyway.
Only about 100 copies of Action Comics #1 are believed to exist, and only two are graded at 8.0+. This was one of those rare copies.
