Geek TV Tonight!

Starting at 6:00 PM, CST (7:00 Eastern) on Sci-Fi is one of the best Sci-Fi original movies I've ever seen. It is, in fact, the movie that got me started watching Sci-Fi after years of basically ignoring it.

For years, all Sci-Fi showed was Star Trek-type fare, which is just not my cup o tea. Though I love cheesy, B-rater horror flicks (always have and always will), there's something about sci-fi camp that just completely turns me off. I think it's the fact that they try so damned hard to be serious, even though you know that no one on the set could have seen the rushes and honestly thought, "Hey, that's good work!" Well, no, you really don't - and that's prolly why I don't dig them the way I do their horror counterparts.

And while Bloodsuckers sounds like grade-C (for Cheese) material, it's actually a really good flick. It's about a spaceship full of vampire hunters who go about the galaxies, answering distress calls from planets overrun with vampires. But not just your average, modern-day, Anne Rice, porno vamps; these vampires come in all shapes, sizes, and varieties. It sounds campy, and on first glance, you'll swear it was just $1000 away from starring Casper van Dien, but if you give it a shot, you'll be pleasantly surprised. It's an excellent flick that would actually make a great ongoing series.

When it premiered, I wouldn't have watched it based on the Guide info, but as luck would have it, I couldn't sleep and it was on, so I drifted in and out of it for the first half hour or so. But then, it got so good, I literally sat up and made some popcorn and watched it all the way through. Great flick - actually one of my favorites in the whole sci-fi/dark fantasy/horror genre.

So, there's Bloodsuckers at 6.

But it is up against the first episode of Heroes on NBC. As I reported earlier in the weekend, NBC is showing all three episodes of the hit sci-fi/superhero series tonight, so you can get caught-up. Of course, the first episode was shown about three times on the network, as well as on Sci-Fi, and USA, so you probably saw it at least once. Watch Bloodsuckers, then flip over to NBC for Heroes.

Then, tonight on [Adult Swim], comes new ATHF episodes! That's right: after two years, Aqua Teen Hunger Force returns to the Sunday night line-up with all new episodes!

"Now that I have seen that on the TV, that is the shiz-NITE!" - Master Shake

I don't know about where you live, but here, it's cold, overcast, and dreary. The perfect evening to curl up with your favorite blanket, pop some popcorn, and watch TV until the wee hours o' the morn.

Man, that Bloodsuckers rocks! It absolutely ought to be an ongoing series. What a good flick. If you missed it, it's available on DVD, and totally worth it.

I saw it. Not my cup o' Tea but it's kinda cute that you love it so much. New side to your persona for us to see. That and the advice to curl up with a blanket makes me giggle. *tickles you*

Hrm... does this make me one of the blogosphere's most eligible bachelors or just another computer dork with [not so] latent homosexual tendencies?

You really didn't dig Bloodsuckers?! I really love that flick. I totally wish they'd make it an ongoing series. In fact, right after I first saw it, I wrote Sci-Fi and told them so! Only time I've written them, so far...
