The Weirding

Yes, The Weirding is live, but with extremely limited functionality. Sadly, as I've mentioned elsewhere, due to server issues, I am having to go about uploading it the hard way, which is taking far longer than it would if I could just login and FTP the entire site. The only plus-side to this is that, if the entire site were up like I'd planned, I'd be running myself ragged to fix all the problems on every page; this way, I can hopefully pinpoint and correct most of the issues on a page-by-page basis.

Mayren noted that some IE users have to scroll over to the right to get Nerdy's elbow in the frame and I got the same result on my IE 7.0 browser. I will try to fix this today, in fact, but in the meantime, it brings up another interesting point: you need to change your resolution under Display Properties to see it right, at any rate. This is a known issue I will change later, but for now:

  1. Go to your Desktop
  2. Right-click for the menu
  3. Go to the bottom option, Properties
  4. In the new window, choose the last tab, Settings
  5. Slide the little arrow on the Resolution scale to the right
  6. Set it to 1024x768
  7. Click Apply
  8. Click OK
  9. Right-click for the menu again
  10. Select Refresh
You may have to close any open windows and reopen them for the changes to take effect.

This is a known issue. If you resize your browser window, you will also notice that a lot of the page disappears and you have to scroll around to find stuff. This is another known issue.

Once more of the site is up, it will be viewable at either of the most popular resolutions (800x600 or 1024x768), and the entire page will be seen in the window, regardless of how you resize it. This is one of those issues which requires coding workaround (meaning I have to "trick" the browsers into doing what I want them to do) and is going to take some finagling to accomplish, so it is not a top priority until more pages are up and more functionality is available.

I have not worked on a Mac in literally 5+ years (I have two, in fact, but do not have a monitor for either one), so I do not remember how this is done on there. Plus, my Macs are old, so if any Mac users know how to do this, PLEASE post in a Comment. We'd really appreciate it!

Forums will be up today, but they are known to be buggy and are temporary. If you post anything in the Forums you wish to remain on the board, please copy and paste it into a word-processing program or TXT file you can save so you can repost it on the real Forums, when they are up and working. There is no ETA for when that will be.

Please bear with us and thanks again, Mayren!
