Heroes, Silver Surfer, Spider-Man

Did you see Heroes tonight? So good, so, so, so good! This is the episode everyone's been waiting for: finally, we got to see some depth and plot development, instead of a bunch of false leads and hooks that go nowhere. It focused on the Bennets (Claire's family), Claire, the cop, the Ted guy that I don't remember from anywhere, and Claire's dad; the rest of the ever-growing cast was barely present. Not to give anything away, this was a great episode and really moved the entire story forward instead of going around in the same circles it's worn thin. Had this episode occurred earlier in the season, they could have kept up the anticipation they seemed to have lost over the duration. Still, the entire run has been ten times better since they came back from the Christmas break.

During the show, they aired the promo for the Silver Surfer movie, Rise of the Silver Surfer, which also stars the Fantastic Four. If you never read Silver Surfer, well... it takes a certain type of fan. Silver Surfer was on the galactic side of the Marvel spectrum -- literally. He was Galactus' herald and Galactus is better known as the Planet Eater. Nova was also one of his heralds and Galactus and all of his heralds were basically limitless in power.

Silver Surfer, much like Nova, basically flew around the galaxy, philosophizing, and sometimes getting involved in other-worldly civilizations -- usually to philosophically explain to them why Galactus was going to eat their planet. While the spot was really short, it actually looked pretty cool, even though it is apparently set on Earth.

Lastly, next week's Heroes will feature a preview of the upcoming Spider-Man 3 movie. We covered the first premiere they showed a few months back, so I don't know if this "exclusive preview" is going to be much different or not, but I'm assuming it will be.

I'm old enough to remember when Marvel made comics.
