Changes on the Way

Yup, it's that time yet again.

Since the XP computer is finally back up and running, I have to turn my attentions back to the site itself. A slight redesign is scheduled which will occur over the next couple of weeks, before the double-sized spring/summer issue is released, that I think everyone will like and will agree is a lot better than the barebones pages up right now. The overall, Art Deco Minimalist style will remain, but everything will be a lot easier to find and won't rely quit so much on the "hidden goodies" philosophy I still stick by.

While this is going to take place very soon, larger advancements are going to be pushed-back slightly yet again and I wanted to address this quickly. Firstly, I know that this is what The Wording is for, but The Wording really works more on the details - what, exactly, is going on, how we're going about accomplishing it, and more - and this is just a general checking-in.

I am definitely going to purchase a new computer Friday after next. The question I'm having is whether I should go on and get a Vista computer or invest in an XP one. The reason is simple: Vista does not support all of the software I use on a regular basis and I cannot be without it. Further, even if I bite the bullet and decide to try new software, the learning curve will set me back much further than getting everything I use on here over there or running back and forth between boxes.

On the flip-side of this, XP is quickly being "phased-out," as MobsterSoft is wont to do with their older OS. They don't lower the prices on these things, mind you, just quit supporting them. That means that, in no more than 2-3 years, I am going to be forced to upgrade to Vista.

So, with this machine running for now (it's just a matter of time, though), maybe the better thing to do is to go on and purchase the new Vista machine and just do what I can here when I need to. Or is it?

I posted an entry on The Wording with some questions I have for anyone running Vista. If you have the time and are so inclined, I'd really appreciate someone taking the time to drop me a comment.

And, by the way, since being crashed, I had to change a bunch of security options and in the past few weeks, I have not only completely eliminated the spam (knock wood), I haven't received any comments at all. So, I included a technical address where you can send an e-mail if you send a comment and don't see it after a few days.

Thanks!
