A Note on Content

I'm a 32 year-old, single, white male with no children. I've never married (that I know of - there was one incredibly drunken night involving a stripper that I don't like to think about, but since I've never seen her again, I'm sticking by my story). I grew up on RPGs and comic books and I love them all. I like the darker, more "adult" fare, as well as the by-the-numbers, underwear-clad newsstand stuff.

But I do try to watch my language a bit - I know I go off on tangents here and there and get a little mouthy from time to time - but I don't use The F-Word here (I use "eff" and "effing" sometimes, but as much for comedic effect as anything else). I generally try to keep from really laying it on thick, even when I skate close to the line.

But I wanted it to be known that this is not a blog for youngsters. The Weirding is not a site for kids, either. In fact, as I was telling Dark Horse Comics editor, Jeremy Atkins, last week (NAME-DROPPER!), the target audience I have in mind are people just like me: the casual fan and sometime collector. The kids have a ton of comics and manga sites; the serious collectors have plenty of sites as well; the hardcore gamers have sites that have been up for almost as long as the Web has been around; and fans of "adult" art have their own sites. I have a specific demographic in mind and while a lot of what we cover has mass appeal and/or crosses those lines, if you are worried that your kids are reading this, or any, of our sites, then you need to explain to your kids that these sites are not appropriate for them.

I just wanted to get that out there, since some of the news we're about to be getting into may be questionable for some age groups (Paris in jail, Joe Francis in jail, 28 Weeks Later, etc.) and some of the content on here is anyway. I don't personally find any of it too bad for, say, kids age 13+ and certainly not for anyone 15-16 and over, but others might, and that's their business because they're their kids.

Thanks for listening and reading!
