Lohans Don't Learn

Now this one just... I just had to write about this after the whole Paris Hilton Day.

Lindsay Lohan's mom, Dina, blew off a court date Friday to go visit Lindsay in rehab. The court date concerns the custody of her two youngest children. Her ex-husband, Michael Lohan, just released from a 2-year prison sentence for DUI, is asking for visitation to the young children, which Dina has impeded through court orders of her own. Reports say the judge was angered and demanded she show up for all further appointments.

See, this is what Paris went down for (bad choice of phrase, but you know what I mean); anyone but Paris Hilton would have spent a few days in jail, paid a hefty fine, and maybe had their license suspended for a short while, but even if overcrowding wasn't the problem it is in LA, they still wouldn't have spent 45 whole days in jail. It's because of people like Lohan and her mama, Tom Sizemore (I still don't know who the hell that guy is), and others, that Paris has been singled-out to be made an example of.

And it apparently isn't working.

I realize Dina Lohan is just a bottom-feeding stage mom, but she obviously thinks her daughter's fame and her own fleeting celebrity give her the right to just flit about as she wishes, whether or not she has court dates. It really says something about our modern society when these people, who are not really even "minor" celebrities by most standards, are just doing whatever the hell they want and expecting to get away with it.

While Paris deserved to spend a few nights in jail and definitely pay a fat fine, this 45 days mess is just that: a mess. And it obviously isn't making the point the heavy-handed judge thought it would.
