This is just my month for problems, isn't it?
In going back over the blog, I noticed several press releases that should have had pictures and art but for whatever reason, do not. My general system for posting these things is to copy & paste the press release from the e-mail in which it arrives, transfer it to a 3rd-party word processing program and strip it of all text and paragraph formatting, reformat it to preserve the original structure, then copy & paste it into Blogger. I then save the included pictures to hard disk, upload them into the post, and delete them from my computer (unless I really dig them, in which case I archive them, if not the entire e-mail).
This being the matter, some of the pictures which have been "lost" are exactly that: they are no longer on the computer and the e-mail containing the press release has been deleted. Unfortunately, I cannot include these pictures at this late date. Where I still had the artwork, I have included them in the posts.
I am still going through and finding hosed URL links. Unfortunately, I simply do not have the time to go through the entire blog and find these bad links. Like I noted before, a lot of them are to our goodly sponsor, Things From Another World, and you should be able to access their site through the banners on the right. We took TFAW as a primary sponsor because they have good prices, pre-order subscriptions, and a full stock of all comics and comic-related goods (toys, statues, apparel, portfolios, more) - much of it at a discount, if you order in time - so if you love comics or you are interested in purchasing anything you read about here, you are basically guaranteed to find it there just by clicking through to the site! Further, those cats are really good and will definitely work with you; they were the ones who alerted me to the fact that some of the links weren't working!
Also, I am going to be trimming some more of the "fat" throughout the weekend between posting. Again, if you are on our Blogroll and you have not reciprocally-linked to us in yours and/or you have abandoned your blog, it is most likely that you will be deleted. It is not personal! Having a one-way, outgoing link to a site brings down our standing in the search engines and lowers our "worth" to potential sponsors, so we will still link to you in individual posts when we want to refer others to whatever you have written or your site/blog, in general, but we simply cannot afford to leave you on the Blogroll for this reason. Again, it is not personal! If you have linked to us, this does not affect you at all.
If you want to link to us - or you already have and we don't know it - please contact us via comments here (you can always lead-off with something like NOT FOR GENERAL POSTING so it's kind of like a "private" message to me or one of the other contributors who will leave it for me to see) or through the website.
Speaking of which, this being the first of the month and having the new host in place, I will be working on getting everything together with that. A lot of that just means uploading and setting up features already online. Depending on how things go with getting it up and running, you will most likely have to re-register with The Speakeasy. I am not 100% about this yet, so don't get in any hurry. Few people have been active in the forums anyway, so it probably isn't a big deal to anyone. Again, I will be renewing the domain and it will have a new IP address, so if you use your old bookmarks and start getting 404 messages (File Not Found, etc.), please let me know so I can give you the new pointers. I don't think this should affect anyone; I am not positive, but I should only have to change pointers on my end and things will follow through for you.
Anyway, while I have a lot to get to here and elsewhere, I don't anticipate a lot of activity due to the holiday, so here's to hoping everyone has a great weekend and the weather gives us all a break - whether swimming or sweating.
Happy Labor Day!
