Okay, that is one cheesy headline, I freely admit.
I don't usually fool with news about Danny Bonaduce. In fact, I prefer to spell his last name "Bona-douché." It isn't that I personally know the guy or anything, and I don't have anything against him really, but the few times I have ever seen him on TV (I have never watched his show, though I have seen scenes on other talk shows and heard news about it, etc.), he's just a douchebag.
He isn't necessarily a bad person or anything; I'll agree that he has his problems and has had a hard life and so forth, but that's not why I find him douchey (since "douche" is a female-related word, should it be douchie?). He just acts like a jerk most of the time. I could say that of the many times I've seen him acting like a jerk, he was messed-up - but I'm more inclined to think that the few times I've seen him when he wasn't being a jerk were the only times he was sober.
But I saw the tape of this attack a few days back on Red Eye and I was pretty upset over it. You all know how much I hate the whole "got what you deserved" mentality, and the reason this incident upset me so was because I found myself leaning toward that very idea! I mean, you have to take situations on a case-by-case basis and with that in mind, the whole affair kind of seemed like the guy, a Jon Dalton - aka, "Jonny Fairplay" (gag!) - really did "get what he deserved."
If you don't know what I'm talking about, this Jonny Fairplay is some reality TV "star" from one of the Survivor series - I have never seen him, never heard of him, have no idea who he is nor what he is about, nothing - and he was introducing Danny Bonaduce at the FOX Reality Network Awards Show (double-gag!) or some contrived shit like that (who the hell cares?). When Bonaduce walked onstage, this Fairplay cat jumped on the former Brady Bunch child star and began hopping up and down on him. Bonaduce responded by throwing the guy over his back.
Now, Danny Bonaduce - as I noted earlier - is a douchebag, there is no argument as to that. That guy is a loose cannon, a 10-time loser in all ways, an alcoholic and drug addict - a total wreck of a human being in every way imaginable. You don't have to provoke him into violence! In fact, I agree with Fairplay's case against him to the extent that the show's organizers are partially responsible; Danny Bonaduce should not be invited to appear anywhere in public - specifically anywhere they are serving liquor or any other form of alcohol.
But come on! Danny Bonaduce or not, no one should have to to put up with some jackass leaping into their arms and humping their chest! I would understand it if Mother Theresa had thrown the asshole over her head! And as far as anything Bonaduce had to say about the guy afterward, who can blame him?! Of course he was upset; of course he was angry; of course he was going to say mean, ugly things about the guy who just attacked him on TV, in front of his professional peers and rivals.
Regardless of Bonadouché's other failings and shortcomings, even prosecutors agree that he acted in self-defense. Had he thrown the guy over his back, then started beating him, it would be another thing entirely; this Jonny Fairplay (that little porn name makes me want to gag every, single time I hear it) attacked the guy!
In the suit, Fairplay/Dalton states that he and Bonaduce had interacted in such a manner previously and this behavior is part of Fairplay's regular routine - he was acting "in-character," basically - but that's a bunch of shit. That's tantamount to, say, "Fitty-Cent" suggesting that he shot someone because that's part of his "stage persona."
Bonaduce predicted that Fairplay would lose the suit - "badly."
