Duh! There is a Charmed marathon on all day today. Well, until 5:00 PM CST, anyway.
These are the episodes with Chris, and while they are key to the overall story and several of them are really good, the whole mood on the set is really dampened... a lot. Often.
These are those middle years I talked about the other day: you could miss most of these episodes and be fine. But a lot of the storylines and arcs that went through this part of the series were creatively brilliant, they just didn't translate well to the screen because of the players.
I hate to lay blame because I love the cast, but it's true. A lot of these episodes were more dramatic than the earlier and later ones and it really dampens the atmosphere; they kind of lost that light-hearted spark that was omnipresent throughout much of the series and some of the tongue-in-cheek jokes were decidedly more... adult in nature. But not exactly cute or sexy - or even all that funny... just point-blank and obvious.
Still a fun watch, if you like seeing hot people do cool things. And the SFX, though sparse, weren't bad around this time, either.
Charmed - marathon - now!
