Kenny Baker, the actor who played R2-D2 in the Star Wars films, is still in the hospital, after suffering from chest pains last week.
Baker had suffered a bout of pneumonia in 2007 which doctors thought he was past, but on a plane ride from Chicago back to his home in the UK, the 73-year old actor "fell seriously ill," according to his son. "I was told he could very easily pass away in his sleep," Kevin Baker said.
Born in Birmingham, Kenny Baker has also appeared in other sci-fi classics, including Flash Gordon and Time Bandits. His pneumonia may be behind the recent health scare. He remains in the hospital.
