I hope everyone has had a good 4th of July (sorry, Variable!).
I visited friends and ate BBQ ribs and chickens, potato salad (tater salad, as it is wont to be called down here), coleslaw, baked beans, rolls, cheesecake, and chocolate chip cookies. All homemade, except the rolls. Well, okay, the cookies were made from a box mix, too.
I shot a few leftover fireworks but allowed the surrounding folks and neighborhood kids to amuse me with theirs - until the local police force began busting them at around 10:30pm. I told you this horrible, terrible place is a police state. In fact, the cop who has been central to my continued harassment was across the street from a store I went into Thursday and purposely made his way across the street so he could enter the business, where he stood and glared at me, arms crossed, until every occupant in the store felt uneasy!
Ah, bully cops with absolutely no restraint or authority to whom they must answer! Can't get more American than that shit.
I am watching the Revolutionary War marathon on History Channel, mainly because I am a bit of a buff when it comes to this era and the ideals which were trumpeted, but also because it's a holiday kinda thing, and just kicking-back. I was happy to hear from some friends and colleagues I don't often get to chat with and haven't heard from in a while, but Scamper the Cat is absolutely terrified and has remained hidden somewhere in the bedroom for almost the entire evening. I wish I'd known he would be so traumatized; I never would have left him alone all day, if I had. Such a bad father.
Anyway, we'll get back into things tomorrow (maybe throughout the morning, depending on my mood), and y'all enjoy your lengthy weekend!
