Eddie the Head is heavy metal band, Iron Maiden's, time-honored mascot. And now the mascot of Spain's Socialist party in Madrid.
Warring political factions are against the Navarre region being considered part of the Basque country. The separatists took to hanging the Basque flag at meetings, so Socialist leader, José Luis Uriz, responded by hanging a flag featuring Eddie. He was quoted as saying, "The Iron Maiden flag means a lot to me."
As it does to us all, José. As it does to us all.
