South Park Creators' Mormon Play Set for Off-Broadway

Trey Parker and Matt Stone's satirical play on Mormonism and the beliefs of the Church of Latter Day Saints' is set for off-Broadway sometime in the summer season. Mormon Musical - the working title - includes music by Parker and Avenue Q composer, Robert Lopez. Jason Moore, also of Avenue Q fame, is directing, and Xanadu choreographer, Dan Knechtges, is handling the hoofing. Broadway star, Cheyenne Jackson, is set to star.

Cannibal: The Musical, based on Parker's absolutely hilarious Troma film of the same name, opens in London this July, as well. The duo's film, Orgazmo, took-on Mormonism years ago, with the title character, a devout Mormon, falling into a world of porn, and South Park has lambasted the religion many times over, including a particularly nasty episode satirizing the origins of the religion.
