RIP Whitney Houston

Singer Whitney Houston was found dead in her bathroom at the Beverly Hilton Saturday afternoon. The 48-year-old diva may have drowned in the tub, but it is uncertain. Some reports suggest that prescription drugs were found on the scene, but this has not been confirmed. In fact, nothing but the passing of Houston has been confirmed, and it may be several weeks before the results of an autopsy are released to the public.

Houston rose to fame in the late 1980s with a series of pop singles that showed her impressive vocal range. She continued through the early 1990s as a best-selling artist and starred in her first movie, The Bodyguard, in 1992. But by the late '90s, Houston had grown tired of the music business and was rumored to be on drugs. In 2002, she admitted to drug abuse in an interview with Dianne Sawyer. In 2005, she and then husband Bobby Brown appeared in six episodes of a reality show that reignited rumors of drug use. The two split shortly after the show aired.

Some reports indicate that Houston, who was in town for the Grammys, was exhibiting bizarre behavior in the days leading up to her death, but friends and family who spoke with the singer shortly before she was found refute those reports, saying everything was fine and Houston was in good spirits.
