The OddBlog and the Rundown

I think I mentioned this here before, but I got the new OddBlog up and going.

The siteblog was originally entitled The OddBlog, but I liked The Wording better, so I changed it and then set up a new OddBlog to cover the paranormal stuff. The old paranormal blog on BlogCharm will be slowly dismantled over the next few months and much of the content reposted on the new OddBlog.

There are several reasons for this, but I want to note that one of the major ones is because BlogCharm ripped me off. It took me something like 7 months to make a measly $10 on that site and then they sent me an e-mail, informing me that payments were on hold. A few days later, they said they had "recalculated" the earnings and suddenly, my whole $11 some-odd suddenly became $1.53!!!! I sent them two e-mails, telling them that I didn't mind the whole recalculation thing and wouldn't have minded losing a few bucks or whatever, but going from $11.00 to $1.00 is... well, it's a rip-off. I didn't hear from them until after I posted a nasty entry about how they'd ripped me off. The reply basically said, "Dear sucker..."

So don't fool with BlogCharm, if you didn't know.

The other reason is because I can host the new OddBlog on The Weirding domain. I'm still considering moving The Rundown over there, too. I just haven't done it yet.

I really don't like the new layout -- I didn't when I switched to it a few months back and I still don't -- but Mayren had a point about how most people don't comment even if they notice a problem. The other thing is that a lot of people might not even realize there is a problem; if you don't know there is a sidebar and you don't see one, you don't know you're missing one, so you don't know you have anything to comment on.

According to the statistics, the vast majority of y'all are using IE to access the blog and I was able to duplicate the problem on IE 7.0 (even though I thought I fixed it and it now appears fine through 7.0 on my system), so I went on and changed it.

But I cannot stress enough how Firefox handles every site better -- the colors are not only more vivid but actually the correct colors, and that's just the one example. Firefox is like 20x smaller than IE and is cross-platform compatible (meaning it works on every operating system -- all Windows versions, Macs, Linux, Unix, etc.). If this, or any other, site is not showing up correctly or working right under IE or any other browser, try Firefox. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

As for in-blog ads, The Weirding and its related blogs and associated sites will not change our policy at this time; in-blog ads, affiliate advertising, and other forms of commercialism are how we pay for the sites, our time, and our efforts, and we do not apologize for that.

We do not accept ads or advertisers who demand we change our ways, topics, subjects, or methods (such as those who insist, "No foul language, questionable, or objectionable material on page") and we try to find advertisers we think y'all might be interested in.

The unfortunate truth is that spending time and effort on these things takes time and effort away from us that we could spend elsewhere, and these advertisers help to compensate us for our loss of resources.

And, anyone who has a problem with that can either start kicking in on our bills or bail, but make no mistake about it: Taking on advertisers is how we got this far, and we appreciate our advertisers who work with us.

So, if you don't like it, go cry over there ------->
