Pizza and Beer

I have comics news and subjects galore to discuss, I just wanted to take a moment to mention this because I don't know how much of them I will get to today:

Drinking doesn't go well with much. Doesn't go well with driving, reading, writing, watching kids, or cake. Even wedding cake.

It's one of those ugly truths you have to face when you get older. The other is that you simply cannot drink whenever you want. I don't mean like for breakfast; I mean that just because you have a day off or you are out on the town with your friends, you can't always just have a drink. Sometimes it's because of health or medications, because you are driving, because you have to be up early the next day - there are a thousand excuses why not to drink... almost as many as you can come up with to drink!

So the hard, sad truth is that sometimes, you really have to make time to drink. Doesn't matter if you just want a few or if you want to go on a full-fledged bender; you either can or you cannot.

And that's why I may not be able to get to too much today: today, I can drink. And two things that drinking does go well with are pizza and sci-fi TV.

I don't know how many I will put away nor if I will post anything and I do have to be up pretty early tomorrow, so I actually have to watch how deep into the fridge I reach, but in sitting here, watching Torchwood while eating my pizza, it occurred to me that I have no idea what is coming up this week and the next is bill-paying and rushing-around week, so if I wanted to knock back a few, today was my only choice. And I decided to go for it.

In all honesty, I don't enjoy drinking so much anymore. Maybe on a special occasion or when there's absolutely nothing else to do, but just to have a drink or two while I'm hanging out and so forth... not so much.

But since I take pain medications and literally can't drink normally, anyday I have been off my pain meds for 3+ days and have nothing else to do is a special occasion. Oh, nothing stops me from drinking when I am on my meds except common sense - the common sense to read the boldfaced, capitalized warnings all over the bottle which say, "DO NOT DRINK ON THIS MEDICATION" - but that's good enough for me.

So, yeah, I'm still dragging-ass. I have to get back to knocking things out this week, as long as they don't turn off my utilities and/or cable - those are the appointments I have to get to tomorrow. Apparently, the checks have gone out, but they haven't been received and have not been returned to the bank as yet, so I'm going to have to get up early and figure things out.
