Hey guys, I am here today, just doing behind-the-scenes stuff.
I have some timely press releases to get out to you, but other than that, it's going to be slow. I am working on the Champions pages for the site, just because they were such a huge draw on the old site. I am also editing some of the older entries for content (grammar, so forth), and I will likely get back to managing the tags some later on, so if your readers start feeding old posts, that's why.
Just in case any sponsors are reading, I am going to institute some new rules where y'all are concerned. I understand we aren't Yahoo! or anything, but we get a decent amount of traffic, we are well-written, and we are pretty easy to work with; I love having sponsors and will gladly work with y'all on anything, but it's time to start drawing the line on certain things - such as no-follow tags and the duration of your posts. Face it, guys: $5.00 is not an ample amount for a lifelong post - specifically not when it jeopardizes the standing of my work.
I am getting more and more offers that are simply a rip-off: a 400-word review with 4 outbound links, a linked picture, a linked banner - all with no no-follow - and it has to stay on the front page for at least a week and can never be removed? Yeah, $5.00 don't cover that, kids, and I am honestly offended by the "offer."
I am still hammering-out the details and nothing is definite, but I am going to make some firm decisions regarding this (and other) issues and post them here soon. I am particularly dismayed over the lack of support I have received from most of our sponsors in regards to the entire PR debacle and downright pissed-off at the belligerent attitude I got from a couple.
I am a 33-year old, published writer and musician - not some 13-year old l33t pr0gger trying to drum-up cash for a fricking X-Box, and I demand to be treated as such. I, my work, and my product are professionally handled and executed. The Rundown has been online for 10 years now and I have no plans of going anywhere anytime real, real soon. This is a quality blog of which I am quite proud and I do not feel we have been receiving the proper care, attention, respect, and return for that. So I'm going to put an end to it and set forth my own regulations, and we can take it from there.
That being said, let me honestly thank the guys over at PayU2Blog, who have consistently been the most polite, professional, helpful, and timely of all our sponsors. I truly appreciate Tony, Heath, and everyone else there and hope to count you among our sponsors for many years to come.
Anyway, slow day ahead (unless something truly interesting happens), but there will be a few things along the way.
