I was going to give a few thoughts on last night's episode of Supernatural following it, but I was just too tired. Anyway, I had to say something, because it was one of the more important episodes in the entire series:
[SPOILERS]
The Angel, Castiel, sent Dean back in time to the night the Yellow-Eyed Daemon met his mother and Dean tried his best to change the events leading up to that, but was unable to do so. So what was the point? Well, the whole thing was specifically that: a point to be made. Castiel explained that Sam was headed down a Dark Path and if Dean couldn't stop him, the Angels would have to.
Obviously, this bit of foreshadowing is important, but the big thing was that Dean got to meet his grandparents (both of whom were killed by the Yellow-Eyed Daemon) and his parents before they were... you know, actually his parents (actively). And we, along with Dean, learned more about the Winchesters and the Supernatural mythology.
If you do not get the Supernatural comic series tie-ins, you really are missing out on some of the backstory, though I must admit I was not impressed with the first outing. I have several issues of the latest series, but have not read any of them yet. Still, I will have to go back and read some of the first one because I am anxious to see how it ties-in with last night's revelations.
This is the best show on TV, guys. Follow the first link above to check out full episodes online. It comes on CW at 8:00CST Thursdays and you are truly missing-out if you don't check it out!
