Twilight 3 Director Named

Spanish director, Juan Antonio Bayona, has been officially announced as the director of the third Twilight installment. Eclipse will be Bayona's first English-speaking outing, and while some have noted his dark directorial style as perfectly befitting the series, others have added the third installment in the Twilight series is decidedly less "horror" than the others. Even more have bemoaned yet another male director; some believe only a female can bring Stephenie Myers' teen-angst vampiric love story the... femality it requires to stay true to the source material.

Juan Antonio Bayona's last movie was the critically-acclaimed thriller, The Orphanage. The Orphanage garnered Bayona a Best Foreign-Language Film Oscar nom.

Summit Entertainment made the announcement today, ending a recent spate of rumors. The second film, New Moon, is set for a November release and features Dakota Fanning.
