Fox has decided against airing an episode of Family Guy dealing with abortion, though it will be included on the season's DVD. The episode, entitled Partial Terms of Endearment, has Lois agreeing to be a surrogate mother for an infertile couple who then tragically dies in a car accident. The episode was set to air next season. It is unclear if Family Guy will be "short" an episode next season, or if another will be created to take this one's place.
Fox entertainment president, Kevin Reilly, told critics the decision was based on advertiser concerns, and was in no way an attempt to censor the show or creator, Seth McFarlane. McFarlane said he had absolutely no problem with the decision, referring to the current state of his relationship with Fox as "a golden age."
"I trust [Fox's] decision implicitly," McFarlane was quoted as saying.
