Gremlins 3 in 3D?

According to some sources, a third Gremlins is set to take place, but probably without director, Joe Dante and in CGI. Apparently, there is nothing but a script at this point - or a script underway - but Dante said in 2006 there would be a sequel, but that he wouldn't direct because the studios wouldn't ask him. Dante also said the charm of the original Gremlins movies came from the puppetry and CGI would almost certainly be used if a third installment sees fruition.
