David Spade is working to bring his signature rocker, Joe Dirt, to TBS' primetime lineup as an animated series. The pilot deal involves Spade, Sony Pictures Television, and Happy Madison Prods. This is TBS' third attempt at a primetime animated series - Neighbors from Hell and Good and Evel were the other two.
Joe Dirt was released in 2001 and is described as having performed "modestly" at the box office. However, the movie is still in heavy rotation on cable and pay movie channels. It is assumed Spade will do VO, but no details have been given. The log line calls for a script "following a mullet-sporting, muscle-car-loving loser with a heart of gold."
