Tennessee-born actress, Dixie Carter, died Saturday at her home in Houston, TX from complications related to endometrial cancer. She was 70.
Carter, from McLemoresville, TN, appeared on stage and TV in such classic sit-coms as Diff'rent Strokes and Designing Women - the latter of which was canceled, then brought back following a successful write-in campaign by fans. Carter recently appeared on Desperate Housewives, garnering an Emmy nomination. She and her husband, Hal Holbrook, still maintained a home in Tennessee.
Dixie Carter is survived by her actor husband and two daughters from her first marriage to Arthur Carter.

Oops. Sorry about yesterday, but I had something pressing. Anyway, this should have posted Tuesday, I just screwed-up the date.
Double-oops: Dixie Carter died at the hospital in Texas, not her home. I have no idea if she maintains a home in Texas, but I know where her home was here in Tennessee. If I get the chance, once the family has mourned, I'll take some pictures of it.
A stately white home, which is exactly what you would think a Southern Belle like Dixie Carter would own, it's on the town square, across from a general store that is exactly what you think a general store in Tanna-say would look like.
Growing-up, I hated those things because of the unpleasant "hick" associations, but now that I'm grown, I just hate the hicks.
