This is definitely a very cool origin! Finally we know how the SHIELD started and who would have think that it was older than the White House itself.

I love the idea and would love to see more SHIELD stories before Nick Fury came in.

My copy won't arrive until tomorrow (hopefully - shipped Monday), but I agree with you in general.

I always liked Nick Fury, but I've yet to read anything which does him justice, outside of Elektra: Assassin. He's always treated as the stock stereotype you'd figure he'd be: The cigar-champing, man's men, grunt's grunt, leader-type. Actually, he's rarely been portrayed as much of a leader, come to think of it; he's always on some rogue mission or handling things himself.

Nick Fury needs to learn to delegate, especially since he has the entire S.H.I.E.L.D. force at his disposal (or did).

It's high-time S.H.I.E.L.D. got the attention it deserves, as one of the MU's most powerful authority forces.
