On Getting It Together

If you are an even semi-regular reader, you know that we have been offline more than we have online this month, thanks to the fact that we are literally in the very epicenter of the floods which affected Tennessee. What you may not know is that the storms which produced those floods were bookended by weekends of tornadic storms. While we were lucky enough to escape any direct damage from any of these storms, our Internet provider was not.

So I am - and I mean this as literally as you can imagine - one month behind on basically everything - everything, that is, except for comics; the only good thing to come of all this (for me, and thus for you) is that I've had plenty of time to catch-up on my reading - especially since lately, I have been ordering far more comic books than anyone could read in three months' time, much less one! The reasoning behind this was to get current on what's going on in the actual comic books - with the characters, within the titles - as well as the state of the industry from a reader's perspective; I wanted a panoramic overview of the comic book universes (between the covers), as well as the popular trends, tropes, and concepts being bandied about by creators. Were it not for the downtime I've had due to the storms, there's no way I could have read even half as much as I have.

Still, I've fallen far, far behind on pretty much everything in that time (which is why I rarely get to read as often, or as much, as I'd like), and it's going to take several weeks - at the very least - for me to get back up to speed. Please bear with me as I do, but know that - for the immediate time-being - I now at least have some idea as to what's going on in the Marvel, DC, and Image universes, and the posts will reflect that.

I still don't get the whole "Ultimates" line. It's - they're like one of DC's "multiverses," right? Like an entire line of What If...!? titles with their own continuity. Right?

Whatever.
