We gamers are a finicky lot, many of whom always think we could have done a better job than the designers of this product or that one. But could we really? Most often, we are pleased with a product but for one thing, or a handful of things, that we wish had been handled differently. Obviously, it's our game and we can do whatever we want with the rules, but there's more to it than that.
Longtooth Studios' Patron Project is not exactly a new idea -- in fact, I offered such a program several years ago (but had no takers) and OtherWorld Creations had a Yahoo! Group dedicated to its ill-fated attempt at a 3rd-edition of Chill -- but that doesn't make it a bad one! The Patron Project provides players the opportunity to discuss the game directly with the designers, writers, and artists of the product(s). Patrons' names will be included in the credits, in addition to receiving a free copy of the product. Some Patrons will receive even more.
Longtooth Studios says they not only want to bring gamers wonderful product, but bring the community together, as well. Both are great concepts all of us should support, so I'm asking you personally to check-out the company and the program.
