Max Cady: Superhero?

Think about it:

He was unjustly convicted, even if he did commit the crime, and he served his time. He got out then used the very tactics employed against him to break the man who had broken him. A fight fire with fire sort of situation. Further, he did so -- whether or not he was right -- from a just reason and place; he may have misunderstood the word of God but he certainly knew it. Had the people who did what they did to him known it, the whole situation could have easily been avoided.

The question isn't whether or not he was guilty; the question is: did the legal system and prison make him the man he became? And did Sam deserve what he got? He certainly had it coming, there's no question as to that, but do even the wicked get more than they deserve?

The point here is that, if Max Cady (from the movie, Cape Fear) were a comic book superhero, we'd cheer him -- laud his efforts, in fact -- so, was his story told from the right angle or was it retold by the victor? From his angle.
